HVAC Services in Carondelet

Our shop sits at 7624 S Broadway, so Carondelet is not just a service area - it is home. Union-trained heating and cooling for the neighborhood we have worked in since 1984.

Degenhardt Heating and Cooling is Carondelet's neighborhood HVAC company in the most literal sense: our shop is at 7624 S Broadway, in the heart of the neighborhood. When a Carondelet furnace quits or an AC dies in a July heat wave, we are minutes away - no dispatch fee surprises, no crew coming from across the metro.

Carondelet is one of St. Louis's oldest neighborhoods - a riverfront town founded in 1767 and annexed by the city in 1870 - and its housing shows that history. Much of the neighborhood is 1890s-1940s brick, from workers' cottages to two- and four-family flats, and those homes heat and cool very differently than suburban builds.

HVAC for Carondelet's historic brick housing stock

Solid-masonry brick homes hold heat in summer and lose it slowly in winter, so right-sizing matters more here than almost anywhere else in the metro. Many Carondelet houses started life with radiators or gravity furnaces, which means retrofitted ductwork of wildly varying quality - and as a Local 36 sheet-metal shop, duct fabrication is literally our trade.

We measure and build for the house you actually own: high-efficiency furnaces and ACs where ductwork supports them, and ductless mini-splits for flats, additions, and third floors where it never will.

  • 1890s-1940s solid brick homes, cottages, and multi-family flats
  • Retrofitted or undersized ductwork from radiator-era conversions
  • Ductless mini-split candidates: upper floors, additions, storefront apartments
  • Custom sheet-metal duct repair and fabrication by Local 36 union hands

LOCAL KNOW-HOW

What Carondelet homes actually need

Radiator-era retrofits

Many Carondelet homes were converted from radiators or gravity furnaces decades ago. We evaluate the existing duct runs before quoting, so you are not paying for a high-efficiency system choked by a bad retrofit.

Solid-brick load calculations

Masonry walls change heating and cooling loads. We size equipment with the building's real thermal behavior in mind instead of a square-footage rule of thumb.

Multi-family metering

Two- and four-family flats often need separate systems per unit. We design per-unit solutions, including ductless options that avoid tearing into shared walls.
