HVAC Services in Bevo Mill

From the landmark windmill on Gravois to the brick bungalows on the side streets, Bevo Mill gets the same union-trained work we give our own neighborhood.

Degenhardt Heating and Cooling provides AC repair, heating service, and full system replacement across Bevo Mill - the South St. Louis neighborhood named for the 1917 windmill August Busch built on Gravois Avenue. Our shop on S Broadway is a short drive east, so Bevo calls get fast, local response.

Bevo Mill's housing is classic South City: block after block of early-1900s brick bungalows and two- and four-family flats, most of them heated and cooled by systems that have been replaced two or three times since the houses were built.

Right-sized systems for Bevo's bungalows and flats

Brick bungalows here typically run compact duct systems from a basement furnace, and the biggest mistake we see is oversized replacement equipment short-cycling in these modest, thermally heavy homes. We size by the building, not by the brochure.

For the neighborhood's many multi-family buildings, we design per-unit solutions - separate high-efficiency furnaces and ACs where duct runs allow, and ductless mini-splits for units where they do not.

  • Early-1900s brick bungalows and two/four-family flats
  • Compact basement duct systems prone to oversizing mistakes
  • Per-unit designs for multi-family owners and landlords
  • Ductless mini-splits: up to $500 per ton in Ameren PAYS rebates for 19+ SEER2 systems

LOCAL KNOW-HOW

What Bevo Mill homes actually need

Oversized replacements

Thermally heavy brick homes need careful load calculations. Oversized units short-cycle, dehumidify poorly, and die younger. We measure before we quote.

Landlord and multi-family work

Four-family flats mean four systems, four sets of tenants, and coordination. We schedule around occupants and give owners one point of contact.

Aging gas furnaces

A lot of Bevo furnaces are 15-25 years old. Qualifying 96%+ AFUE replacements can earn a $300 Spire rebate, and we recycle the old equipment properly.
